what is summer?! i feel the heat but i'm not experiencing the fun... boo! the schedule i have is sucking all the fun and life from summer.... theory: (8:30am-2:00pm) M-Tu-W -i'm at school by 7:15am just so i can get parking... and there's no covered parking, just closer parking!! -covering one system over a span of 3 days for 2 weeks.... not cool! -getting 2 tests and then a final in a span of 2 weeks... sooo not cool! -getting a butt load of work because it was a holiday and we need to get credit for the hours we missed on a freeeaking holiday + a final this coming monday ... waaaaaaaaay not cool! clinicals: (6:00am-2:00pm) Th-F -waking up at 4:30am so i can be at school by 5:00am... ugggggh! -driving all the way to costa mesa... tiring! -the smell of urine and poop is not flattering in the morning -no matter how good your body mechanics are and if you're using proper technique, your back and feet WILL hurt. weekends in all honesty, i don't know what happens on the weekends cuz i'm usually too tired/sore/sleepy to notice. and if i am awake, i'm usualy studying or doing homework. if it really seems like i'm complaining, I AM!! i just seriously need to vent or else i'm going to explode. i knew that entering a private trade school required sacrifices but mannnn!! this school has turned my world upside down. but despite everything going on, there are major pluses to this... theory -the people i go to school with are theee coolest individuals anyone can go to school with. they help keep me sane and laughing. -they have different views about life and so i learn so much from them -lectures in class are pretty interesting, so i hardly ever fall asleep... haha -i don't have to wake up as early as i do for clinicals!... woot!
clinicals -the people in my clinical group are flippin awesome. they seriously are my lifesavers. -the patients are the nicest and friendliest people you'll meet. and trust i have my share of friends at that facility. -once you get over the smell, everything comes a little less shocking and a little less overwhelming. -you learn to be thankful for the fact you have a family who cares for you and that you still have your youth to enjoy. -gratitude, a sincere touch, and a smile really does go a long way. -a simple hello and how are you makes the day of any person, even if they seem grumpy.
weekends SLEEP!!! REST!!! SLEEP!!! REST!!! lol :]
as of now, i have to make these sacrifices if i want to succeed at being a nurse. no one said it was going to be easy and it only gets harder. so work hard now.... play later :] ♥ tin |
